Customers will search your media for information and use the information to contact you. That is the purpose of the exercise. I do a bit of email marketing myself and often want to find a contact email. Now many businesses hide the contact details so you have to submit a form to them to get information. Why oh why hide your information is beyond me. Ok, you pick up a few for a list but you avoid so many others.
Anyway , when I can’t find an email i skip across to Face book, look in the about me section and most times find what I am looking for

Instagram is well worth a try
My friend is a Hairdresser, top of the market, ladies only premium price. Her only media is Instagram. Every day a picture or three of someone’s hair colour done in the day. Girls are happy to pose and for others to see who was there. Time taken to post to Instagram about 5 minutes a day. Result booked out for nearly a month. Absolutely a single media focus but it is every day of the week without fail. Can you do that?

The US federal Police recently closed MOBE down and gathered back all the assets they could.

To earn money you had to introduce new users into the system and see their money dissapear.
What could go wrong?
I confess I bailed at $49 because of the pressure tactics used but continued to follow the rise, rise and demise of MOBE
The owner Mat Lloyde was basically from my home town so we had something in common. He presented well and purchased resorts to do his seminars.
It may have been a Ponzi scheme or a Pyramid scheme in concept but ran for years before being clipped. It offered nothing but a paid path to the upper levels. January 2012 through to late 2018, that’s a pretty decent journey and a big chunk of income

I have no idea actually. The reason is every business is different so it is not a one size fits all package.
One thing that I do know is that the internet has made a difference to every business.

It ends with the customer in your door or even buying online. That customer experience needs to be one that brings them back as a regular buyer.

A real life example of modern marketing
Within my local area are six Fish and Chip shop take away outlets. The latest entry would certainly find it hard to compete with the well frequented traditional outlets.
When they opened they concentrated on collecting client details. They offered a discount club, prizes and even giveaways to get people in
They then used that database to email and SMS special offers on a regular basis. Family pack, a free new dish to vote on, a packet of chips etc.
Now 12 months late I am witnessing the demise of perhaps three of the other outlets that have done nothing new. Thw new one is also a higher priced supplyer but is creaming the market.
Where is your data base and what can you do with it?
So often I visit small businesses and ask to see the Data base. They generally respond they have one but it is not in a useable condition. Well I respond set alight to it because it is wasting space.

You must have normal information like name, address, email and Mobile phone number for contact purposes. You must also have customer likes and dislikes . It is no good sending a Fish offer to a Pizza buyer it just won’t move them.

LinkedIn a must have for business
Every person in business should be a part of LinkedIn. This is regardless of all other elements. It is a businessman’s who is who and what they do. Accountants, lawyers Bankers, recruitment will use this as a tool to understand you and your business better. Have a nice Picture plus a good write up and a few basic articles. If you are a private person and don’t want to share this info that is perfectly ok, just get out of business and go do a day job. I am serious, you are a brand and that brand needs exposure. Yes you can market with linked in and they have a lot of articles on this but for the small business owner, there are better choices.
Facebook is an easy media to manage.
Setting up a business Facebook page does require a personal one to start but then you are away.
This is just the first step but a really important one. You must regularly post to Facebook or it looks like a lost graveyard. However what the heck do you post? Your aim is to deliver readers to your business or website without being a salesman. The old adage of know like and trust starts here. Facebook starts the journey. Post interesting items, personal insights, topical insights, product uses, customer reports and preferably items that people may like or share. We always aim to grow a following by entertaining.
Then you start to use Facebook
You can advertise on it, you can use retargeting and really build a following that will come to your business.
One way I do Facebook is to set up a week in advance by scheduling the posts. Takes about half an hour and every day is covered. This is not then a chore that you avoid.
Now for Instagram the new Darling of young and not so youn
Instagram has taken over all other media in feedback and retention. I have said before I don’t really get it but it works. Businesses are getting better feed back on Instagram than facebook with the same posting. Then there are some only using Instagram to huge success. Pictures and stories and building a Know and like base. Try it and see.
Email is still King
Believe it or not, this continues to work, costs very little and delivers results. A newsletter format is necessary for every business. Do it or be dammed. I was just talking to a customer who said he had a base of 10,000 customers on his list which he considered pretty good. My question to him was “Ok, but what do you do with them?” “Nothing” was his reply as I shook my head in disbelief.
When you build your list use it.
Don’t ignore your customers. Keep at them so they remember you and want to buy from you when the time is right. It is no good selling Ice to Eskimos as the saying goes but when the Eskimo want’s a new sledge dog they will come to you because you have built up trust.
Finally SMS marketing
This can work really well in many businesses. Sending out a special, new product launch or specific information will get you an instant response. Test and try so you improve your results. Customers of mine have a monthly product launch backed by a supplier. Breakfast, giveaways and show bags. Traditionally they called each invitee and advised them and tried to solicit a response. Now they SMS a week before and the morning of the event and get a greater turnout at less cost.

Furthermore, it is important that you understand this principle. You do not send customers from your web page to social media. They will get lost, enticed away to all sorts of places with must-read interest. Your web page is to convert them into customers. However, your social media is to entertain and move them to your webpage. Many may disagree and say that it is good SEO to get a click but NO Social media is for capture and your webpage is to sell.
What Social media is best and how do I learn about it?
You really have four channels of social media that businesses need to expand. Which one is best for you depends on your industry, proffession or need for exposure, so let’s look at some ideas.

They say half are Fake or never follow however what is true is the retweets by the press. Every tweet is re-broadcast by the media providing a huge, huge audience.
The Brand of singers, actors and sportsman are developed by a few tweets and a massive following. Is it for your business? Probably not but a daily tweet might work a miracle and develop a following like Cristiano Ronaldo at a meagre 144 Million followers. Twitter training for beginners paid course if you must.

How to use Facebook in your marketing
Just like LinkedIn, everyone needs a facebook page. The important point here is that everyone needs a current up to date well-posted facebook page. Anything else can do you damage.
Facebook for business is many things. It is social you can advertise on it, use remarketing or re-targeting and direct traffic to where you want.
I am a keen follower of Gary Vaynerchuk and this youtube video may help you understand more.
Of course, there are lots of this on the Wealthy Affiliate site as well. One thing I do on a special site I run on Rescue Cats is too post a week at a time. Every weekend I spend 15 minutes and cover a week thus growing my audience.
I try and stay to unpaid media where I can but using facebook advertising does generate business. The only condition is to generate profitable business.
Most noteworthy is that retargeting can be used on nearly all social media to provide you with the opportunity for greater exposure. Then it is just a matter of controling your costs and exposure
Instagram You must be there
I was a late convert to this and to this day still struggle with its popularity. Yes, I am on all these Media including Instagram for lots of reasons. Having evidenced Instagram work better than all other media for small business entreprises I have come to the conclussion it is a must do.
My Daughter has an Online store where they initially concentrated on Facebook. They tried Instagram and found it worked at least at twice the result so it proved to them the popularity.
Another friend, a hairdresser, only users Instagram posting daily shots of recent hair models. She has a big following and a overbooked salon. Importantly her only media is Instagram so concentration in this case worked.

The email is not dead
Email to this day is as relevant as ever and in fact, should be used by every business. At the very least a monthly newsletter to a customer base is required. I have written extensively on this and you can search many articles at Newbusinessonline.net Because I am a prolific emailer for customer acquisition and retention I understand that you need to do this.
However, there are right and wrong ways so be prepared to learn and maybe improve your results.

Many sales can come from a one-page website designed to capture interested clients. The most famous is Russel Brunston at Click Funnels who is very expensive but can deliver huge results when done properly. It is true that the speed of change on the internet is a factor for maintaining a consistent view of the activities of others. The forum at Wealthy Affiliate does that for you with members experiencing both good and bad results and experiences.

It is also a fact that adding blogs to your website increases SEO, adds extra Keywords and makes customers stand up and notice you. Every business is different so talk about you and tell them what you know. Share the knowledge and they will hunger for more.
The use of Keywords in your business
This is a really important piece of the puzzle. It is how you get found by someone looking for your product or your company. Yes, many will search by brand but they concentrate down to a local supplier. If I want to purchase a horse, as an example, it would provide no benefit for me searching Horse.

Google searach and paid advertising
If your business is not on page one or two it will not regularly be found. This is just a fact. The first three entries get about 80% of the search volume. Using Adwords, at a cost, you can be placed on page one. This will be at the top or bottom of the page. It is true that many steer clear of paid adverts but it is also true they work. Depending on the Keyword will verify the cost. I have customers spending $100’s per click but they are selling high priced products. Again I say it is cost/return. If it works then scale it right up to the volume you can handle. My warning, however, is to test and evaluate before committing a lot of money.
How to build a CRM business.The list.
Constant relationship management is having a list and working the list to challenge the buyer likes and dislikes. A good list can be the value of your business and onsold with a business or as a separate Entity. Due to the fact that it matters not if you use an Excel spreadsheet a product line A-Weber or an expensive management program anyone can do it. Generally, they will follow that progression as you build your contact base.
